City of Fort Worth

Community centers, Salvation Army open cooling centers

As high temperatures hover in triple digits this week, Fort Worth has designated two community centers as cooling stations, if needed:

  • Andrew ‘Doc’ Session Community Center, 201 S. Sylvania Ave., 817-392-6585.
  • Sycamore Community Center, 2525 E. Rosedale St., 817-392-7650.

The cooling stations will operate 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Visits are limited to one hour per person per day.

To ensure safety, screening protocols (temperature checks and screening questions) will be in place. Face masks are required to be worn (a mask will be provided if a guest does not have one). Social distancing will be enforced, and capacity limits will be set for each facility. A designated space will be provided at each facility for cooling.

Water and restrooms will be available.

Staff will follow established emergency procedures in the event of medical crisis or safety concerns.

In addition, the Salvation Army has opened a cooling station at the

J.E. & L.E. Mabee Social Service Center,

1855 E. Lancaster Ave.

Fort Worth

The site will provide cool air, cold water bottles and canteen services.
