The changing times of CILs and SILCs presented by Lex Frieden, a Professor of Biomedical Informatics and of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and he is Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine. 

Mr. Frieden also directs the ILRU – Independent Living Research Utilization Program at TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston.

The HHSC Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services is pleased to offer these free webinars for service providers and consumers who are hard of hearing.  Participants are welcome to join one or all of the webinars, which will be held at 6:00 - 7:30 pm CST.  These webinars will be presented in spoken English; real-time captioning (CART) will be provided for all the sessions.


About the presenter: Rose Aird Minette, Communication Access Specialist, has a severe hearing loss and has provided services to Texans who are hard of hearing since 1995.


Communication Strategies for People with Hearing Loss

This webinar will expose attendees to a variety of devices which may assist them in the workplace or in community activities. The session will not cover hearing aid technology, but rather, will touch on other types of equipment for people who are hard of hearing.

Texas Workforce Solutions – Vocational Rehabilitation Services’ Denton Field Office and the University of North Texas            are hosting an event on April 28th, 2017. 

The title of our event is: “Prep for Success: An Employment Seminar for Young Adults with Disabilities.” Our target audience is individuals in their senior year of high school, college, or those who have relatively recently graduated from college. We will have several break-out sessions that cover different topics of obtaining and maintaining employment as a person with a disability and an employer panel and a student panel. The event begins at 8:00am on April 28th and ends at 3:00pm.

Registration is free and lunch is included. It is required that all participants register. It is important that one notes if they have any dietary restrictions or accommodation needs on this registration form.
