Adults Needed for a Balance Study Control Group

Adults (over 55 years) with a visual impairment or blindness are needed for a Balance Study Control Group!

This research study is assessing balance & psychosocial effects of a balance training program in adults over the age of 55 years with a visual impairment. Control Group participants will be asked not to change their normal physical activity levels during the eight-week time frame. Just keep doing what you normally do on a regular basis. We want to compare your results to a group who is asked to do specific exercises regularly.

Duration: All you will be asked to do is complete a pre- & post-test (approximately 30 minutes) separated by eight-weeks of normal activity.

The results of the balance assessment will be provided to each participant at the end along with an exercise intervention program and equipment (valued at about $50) for use at home after the study is complete.

When: By Appointment in October or November

Where: American Foundation for the Blind Center on Vision Loss, 11030 Ables Lane, Dallas, TX 75229
