National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Purpose: Calling all high school and college students with disabilities! 
The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) invites you to our 2020 Virtual Career and Internship Fair where participants have the unique opportunity to connect with companies who are excited to give the 411 on their mission, services and disability inclusion practices. During this fair, company representatives will present one at a time and will be followed by a question and answer (Q&A) session from the audience. Company presentations will include:

  • Company’s mission and purpose
  • Company’s inclusive practices and ideology
  • Sponsored professional development courses, workshops, trainings, or job vacancies
  • Company representatives contact information for post event follow-up

AAPD aims to connect job seekers with disabilities to businesses that are committed towards a more inclusive workforce.  To find out more about these companies, receive updates on participating businesses, and to gain access to the online platform,

Paul G. Hearne Emerging Leader Awards Webinar 

 

Through the AAPD Paul G. Hearne Emerging Leader Awards, the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) recognizes outstanding emerging leaders with disabilities who exemplify leadership, advocacy, and dedication to the broader cross-disability community. Two (2) individuals will each receive $2,500 in recognition of their outstanding contributions and $7,500 to further a new or existing project or initiative that increases opportunities for people with disabilities. 

Join AAPD this Thursday, October 15 from 4:00pm – 5:00pm ET for a webinar to learn more about the application process and ask any questions you may have!
ASL interpreters and captioning will be provided. 
Featured speakers include AAPD Paul G. Hearne Emerging Leader Awardees, Tara Ahern (2020) and Ola Ojewumi (2017).
