REACH of Denton
We offer the following services:
- Technical assistance and training in complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Advocacy assistance and training
- Advice and training on the removal of architectural and attitudinal barriers that people with disabilities encounter
- Loaner adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs
- Skills training on such topics as food preparation, accessing public transportation, time management, budgeting and assertiveness.
- Peer counseling on living with a disability
- Training to become a peer counselor
- Social/recreational activities
- Adjustment to disability group counseling sessions
REACH of Denton and The Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services are offering training skills for people who are
blind or visually impaired:
Services may include:
- Training techniques with low vision aids
- Peer counseling & support groups
- Application assistance with low vision programs
- Mobility training & community resources

STAFF ROSTER
Charlotte A. Stewart - Executive Director: Responsible for the overall administration of the REACH organization, including its 3 projects, the REACH Resource Centers on Independent Living in Fort Worth, Dallas and Denton.
Missy Dickenson -Assistant Director: Responsible for the day-to-day management of the REACH of Denton Center as well as providing peer counseling, independent living skills training, advocacy assistance, and information & referral services. Also conducts outreach and community education.
Murphy Hardinger - Independent Living Specialist: Responsible for providing peer counseling, independent living skills training, advocacy assistance, outreach and public education, and information & referral services. Also conducts outreach and community education.
Becky Teal - Secretary/Office Manager: Responsible for handling clerical duties including telephone answering, filing, data entry, inventory maintenance, maintenance of a computerized database of consumer information and upkeep of the office equipment.
