The Law...

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) guarantees civil rights to people with disabilities similar to the rights protected on the basis of race, color, sex, national orgin and religion by the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The ADA prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in:

1. Public & private sector employment
2. Services rendered through state and local government entities
3. Places of public accommodations, i.e. restaurants, theaters, stores & hotels
4. Public & private transportation services
5. Telecommunication services for people who are deaf, hearing impaired or speech impaired.
